Losing those who were closest to me was devastating. Losing those who were closest to me because I removed them is even worse. Over three years I shared my entire life with my two best friends, one who was my lover. For one reason or another, our relationships went by the wayside and by the time I was a month into college I had removed both of my best friends from my life. I knew it was ultimately the right decision and ultimately would make me the happiest, but their absence still affects me in ways I did not anticipate.

Representative of how I physically removed my best friends from my own life, each of these photographs have been physically altered to remove the other person from the picture. Each scene is something I would be doing with the ones I left, except for Burning Bridges which provided inspiration for this whole series. These images show my personal turmoil as I dealt with my decision to leave behind those closest to me.
*Note- The images below are a composite of the digital file and the altered print. All alterations made to these images (burning, cutting, etc.) are physically on the print, as stated in the artist statement above.
Titles are as follows:
Burning Bridges, When We Were Young, DUMBO, Queen of Coney Island, Dan & Phil, Late Night Walks, Up All Night
